PANIK IN SEELOW

What happens when a mysterious voice promises to solve all problems—as long as everyone thinks the same way?
In the sixth production of the series HORROR IM ODERBRUCH, children from the region explore a very special myth: the Goat of Seelow.

The goat has been the town’s heraldic animal for centuries and symbolizes ingenuity, freedom, and the courage to go one’s own way. But then Pan suddenly appears in the film—a charismatic boy who promises simple answers to complicated questions. With humor, charm, and free potato chips, he gains more and more followers. His message is simple: “Follow the herd.”

Only the quiet and empathetic Yam begins to have doubts. Together with her friend Leonie, she tries to find out who Pan really is—and why, of all things, the goat from Seelow might hold the key to his secret.

PANIK IN SEELOW blends regional history and legends with contemporary themes such as peer pressure, manipulation, and the search for one’s own identity. Despite some spooky moments and a dark sense of menace, the film remains age-appropriate and humorous, and above all, it tells a story of friendship, courage, and the freedom to go against the grain every once in a while.

Like all the films in the series, this production is also created in collaboration with children and teenagers. They design props and costumes, take on acting, camera, and sound roles, and actively help shape the story. Shooting took place during the summer holidays together with my colleague Ben Laser.
Post-production — from editing and color correction to music and mixing — was handled professionally by me (David Dwier).

With plenty of creativity, local history, and a healthy dose of humor, the sixth installment of the series HORROR IM ODERBRUCH shows that sometimes you don’t have to be afraid to be a little bit goatish.
