Feuertaufe for my little recording studio! The first band to ever record their work here in Brandenburg is KRYPTO KOSMETIK!

Inspired by my work as a live mixer at the Jazz und Mehr Festival on Hiddensee, I composed a song on the beach. It was written shortly after my first performance as a singer/songwriter at the festival and is about growing older and the passage of time. Enjoy it and please leave a like and subscribe:

  • tinef’s last gig

Founded in 2006 tinef played a lot of gigs and released one LP and two EPs. Our debut was at Berlin’s Bastard Club together with Minimum and Sanagi. In 2007 we joined the Emergenza Song Contest and played in venues like SO36 and LIDO and the KNAACK. I was composer, texter, guitarist and singer why also having the website and production under my hands. Due to changes in our daily live, we decided to end our musical journey.
It was one of the most interesting times in my life and I really miss to rock the stage! Here is our last show at GARAGE Pankow

    leonora hesse

When I started studying social work at Alice Salomon University in Berlin in 2010, I met Leon, Nora, and Patrick right at the beginning. They had a band together called LEONORA HESSE. They played together as street musicians or on one of the countless open stages in Berlin. We quickly became friends, even went on tour together, and I recorded their debut album in the university’s music room. Here is my favorite song from that record.

  • dont slip away

I wrote a song and produced it as well. It was the first time I tried the Glyn Johns’s drum Micing technique. The whole kit was recorded with only three microphones which makes it sound more like a complete instrument, rather than micing every component separately. When you record and produce your own music, it is sometimes hard to judge, because you are very close to the creative process. Therefore the vocal recordings and mixing was done by another engineer, Daniel Bär. If you like that kind of music, you may have a look at our band’s archive page.

    viva con aqua

Sometimes you just need some dirty punk rock! So I invited Raffael’s band to Berlin. In addition to making music and recording, we also had a great time doing other things. You’re only young once, after all. Here you can listen to their song VIVA CON AQUA which is part of a crowd-funding compilation for the organization of the same name.

    ignorant man

When we were touring through Berlin with our Rock Band TINEF, we met some Fellows who had a band called BAND OF FELLOWS. From then on we played some gigs together and after that we spend a weekend in my studio, where I recorded two songs with them. Claudius played the Drums while Tobi played the guitar. I really enjoyed working with those guys, as they were very enthusiastic and energetic. Here is the song ignorant man, performed somewhere in 2018 and mixed and recorded by me.

    say no to drugs

In 2009 I returned to my old school, but this time as kind of a teacher myself. Every year, a drug prevention day is held there for eighth graders. The aim is to introduce young people to alternatives to drug-induced highs. So I used the day to produce a song with a small group. The participants recorded and composed it themselves. In workshops like this, I tend to stay in the background as a silent mentor and try to get the best technical results possible in the short time available. The result is impressive!

I provided the soundtrack for a short commercial for a sustainability agency and played a few notes on the piano. Nothing fancy, but I still think it’s quite nice.

    post mortem

My third LP Production together with my colleague Daniel took place near Bremen on a small farm at the country side. That was quite a contrast between Death Metal tunes and chippy birds. It was definitely not that relaxing as I hoped it to be. And to be honest: it was my first and last death metal production. 🙂
