This year, I received a request to help out as a live mixer at the Liederlauschen Festival at the Theater am Rand because one of the technicians was unable to attend. Well, one man’s loss is another man’s gain. And so I was able to discover this great festival and many fantastic acts from Germany and Poland. Among my favorites were Rainald Grebe, Tantfreaky, Ina West, Deep in Moon, Rider’s Connection, LOTA and Kunstloses Brot.
The festival is beautifully located on the Oder River and offers a colorful program for families with children. We were wonderfully looked after by the association team during our stay and the atmosphere was enchanting! I really hope to be able to work here again!

After relocating our festival from Hiddensee to Klasdorf Station, this is the second edition of the UMRANGIERT Festival and I am sitting behind the mixing pult again. The festival runs from Wednesday to Sunday with additional workshops alongside the concerts. It takes place at Klasdorf Station and is easy reachable from Berlin Südkreuz. An ending is also a beginning. We have relocated our festival from Hiddensee to Klasdorf Station. It will now take place there every two years. New features include the timing from Wednesday to Sunday during the summer holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg, and additional workshops alongside the concerts. Klasdorf Station is easier to reach than the island of Hiddensee. From now on, you can find all the latest news, such as the lineup and workshops, on the umrangiert website. You never know in advance when something will take place for the last time. Unfortunately, this year’s festival was the last one on the island of Hiddensee. As FOH Engineer I was part of the festival team since 2010 and had a wonderful time working with those fantastic musicians! I also joined the festival two times myself, performing my own compositions back in 2015 and 2016. Price increases, logistics, and the loss of funding have made it impossible for us to continue holding the festival on the island. But it’s not all over! After breaking my arm and not be able to perform at the festival myself, this year everything worked out as it should be!
I played a set of my own compositions and was joined by the bass player Klaus Axenkopf, which was great fun to play with!
As always it was my very pleasure to work with those astonishing artists and enjoying the spare time at the island.
