I wrote a song and produced it as well. It was the first time I tried the Glyn Johns’s drum Micing technique. The whole kit was recorded with only three microphones which makes it sound more like a complete instrument, rather than micing every component separately. When you record and produce your own music, it is sometimes hard to judge, because you are very close to the creative process.
